I am a Project Manager

What should I do? I have a few different projects that I’m trying to juggle. Let’s call project 1 Video Time. It is the only project I have going on that has any audience. I also want to work on my Fantasy Cheese Story. I’ve mostly written it, but I have gotten to the point where it’s going to take longer to edit it than to redo it completely. I have to bite the bullet and redo it. I’ve talked myself out of doing that multiple times. I do have to face the music. You see, I split the difference between editing and redoing by doing nothing.

Now I have two projects. Video Time and Fantasy Cheese Story. I’ve been doodling and jotting notes for another story. We’ll call it Daily Moze. A slice of life story that I absolutely love. For a year or so I kept adding notes and putting ideas down. Trying to get everything in line. Neatly ordered, so when I started writing, I’d have a large backlog to work through and it would be easy. Easy to write, you understand.

But during my childhood I played Pokémon Blue Version. A lot. I love the idea of taking the base game and expanding it. Kanto was enormous when I was a kid. Everything was full of mystery and wonder, and I want to capture that. I want to take the heart and expand it. Think human heart to whale heart. I can stand inside the chamber of a whale heart. Think that big.

I have four projects. Only one that I’m working on is getting anywhere. I’m treading water on the other three, and I have a small side project that I’ve managed to keep going, but only because the requirement is so little.

I am going to call this the David and David trap. For those of you who are biblical scholars, and might be asking about Goliath, he’s not a part of this. The David and David trap is that there is no Goliath. It’s just David. And there’s no reason to get up in arms about David. So here I am. Juggling away.

I have an idea that I may be able to do what all jugglers must do. Keep the one ball in the air, and add another. That’s the secret. I can drop as many as I want, but I have to pick them back up and add another. The tricky part thus far has been doing all of those steps I’ve listed out. I am getting better, I think. The tricky part is that there is this constant ebb and flow to all the projects. I’m not sure what it will take to get all of them going, but I also don’t want to give up on them.

I want to play that Pokémon Blue Version game. That’s probably the main reason why I’ve been trying to add it into the mix alongside everything else. I want to go back and relive that part of my childhood. I'll let you know when I get there.
